This week, Europol launched No More Ransom – a new initiative designed to slow down the huge rise in ransomware we’ve seen over the past year. In the US, meanwhile, Democratic National Committee (DNC) chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigned her position as more damaging private emails from DNC members surfaced online. Hillary Clinton’s camp has even gone as far as to accuse Russian spies of the hack.
These are just two major stories from the past few days which remind us that when it comes to cyber security, we’re facing an unprecedented set of challenges. That’s why the theme of this year’s CLOUDSEC London show in September is “Take Control”. We’ve already got a fantastic line-up of some of the industry’s biggest names to help you do just that – so book your place today.
CISOs at war
The problem many information security professionals have today is combatting an increasingly agile, determined and well-resourced online foe without the necessary extra resources to hand. It’s not just financially motivated cybercriminals we’re talking about here. Organisations today could just as easily be a target for nation states – in their own right or as a ‘stepping stone’ into another firm – while even hacktivist attacks can have potentially severe repercussions. And current financial uncertainties in the UK won’t make the job of the cyber security professional any easier.
In such a climate it can sometimes feel like it’s you against the world. But help is at hand. Last year Trend Micro held its first CLOUDSEC conference in London, and it was a great success. Well, it’s back again in 2016 even bigger and better than before. The one-day show has been designed to maximise the opportunities for knowledge sharing. In practice, that means hearing from an impressive list of industry experts – from law enforcement, industry, academia and more – and plenty of downtime to network with your peers.
A stellar line-up
At a packed show in London in September you’ll hear from the likes of: Microsoft’s National Technology Officer, Martin Wignall; Barclays Global CISO, Troels Oerting; Deloitte Global CISO, Dr JR Reagan; and the FBI’s Timothy Wallach, Supervisory Special Agent working in the Cyber Task Force. Just added to the line-up is Philipp Amann, Head of the Strategy Team at Europol’s European Cybercrime Centre (EC3).
We’ve taken time to prepare a balanced schedule which will hopefully leave no stone unturned.
That’ll mean technical presentations on everything from modern hacking techniques to VMware NSX and how Trend Micro’s defence-in-depth strategy can help with regulatory compliance efforts. But it’ll also include bigger picture debates on how industry and law enforcement can tackle global cybercrime; and where the key security risks lie when organisations embark on digital transformation projects.
There’ll also be several top Trend Micro speakers on hand to share their expertise, including Global CTO, Raimund Genes, VP of Security Research, Rik Ferguson, and Robert McArdle, the EMEA Manager of our Forward Looking Threat Research Team.
So register now for a place at what’s set to be one of 2016’s most valuable cyber security events!
