Cybercrime remains largely unique: it is without borders and offers perpetrators a great degree of anonymity, meaning most escape justice. But that’s changing, as some excellent policing work in recent days has shown. The takedown of two of the world’s biggest darknet marketplaces, AlphaBay and Hansa, illustrated what can be achieved when law enforcers work effectively with each other across borders.
Yet despite these successes, cross-border collaboration and public-private sector initiatives are still relatively new. That’s why we’ve invited representatives from the FBI, GCHQ, and Interpol to share their experiences at Trend Micro’s upcoming CLOUDSEC 2017 conference in September. Continue reading →
Did you know that by 2018, around 1.3 million industrial robots will be set to work in factories around the world? It’s an industry estimated to be worth $32 billion by next year, helping to power a fourth industrial revolution built on smart factories and automated processes. Yet as these robots become increasingly important in a range of industries, they’ll inevitably begin to pique the interest of cybercriminals and nation state hackers. The question is, just how exposed are they to cybersecurity threats, and what can be done about it?
That’s what Trend Micro set out to answer for the first time in a ground-breaking new report: Demonstrating Industrial Robot Attacks in Today’s Smart Factories. Its findings confirm Trend Micro as a leader in industrial IoT security, a message we’ll be taking to the Infosecurity Europe show in June. Continue reading →
The threat landscape can move pretty fast – often outpacing the ability of security professionals to keep up. The black hats always have the advantage of surprise. They’re more agile, and increasingly well resourced thanks to a darknet stocked with all the tools and techniques they need to launch attacks. Given the size of the challenge, one of the best chances we have of mounting an effective response is by sharing information. That can work well between organisations. But it can also be done very effectively between experts on the vendor side and security professionals.
That’s why we’re delighted that our VP Security Research Rik Ferguson will be on hand at Cloud Expo Europe in London later this month to share his wisdom on two of the biggest threats facing firms this year: ransomware and Business Process Compromise (BPC). Continue reading →
Cloud 2.0: that’s the buzzword analysts are applying to the new wave of cloud adoption we’re likely to witness this year. It will see those tried and tested benefits of cost savings, greater business agility, scalability and IT efficiency help to drive new digital transformation projects. This is particularly important in the public sector, where the need to deliver services in more innovative and efficient ways is greater than ever. But there remains one major barrier to such projects: cybersecurity. Continue reading →
